Me- vid evaluation

how did you improve your pre- production skills?

I improved my pre- production skills by making a script and and i also got people organised to help me with my me vid.  I also improved my pre- production skills by always beaning organised with my work.

how did you improve your production skills?

I improved my production skills by following my script and filming my me vid, also i got my filming done as i wanted it to be, also i got all the music that i need and i also think my production skills are good as i am a confident person and i take my time to do things.

how did you improve your post- production skills?

i improved my post- production skills from the last time i edited by taking my to edit and not getting distracted by others. i also think my graphics came out well and better than last time i edited my film. i think i did a good job for my fist time on final cut express and on live type.

in my me vid i learnt that it is not easy to film where you planed because the weather might not be good, as i experienced it for my self so i had to change some of my locations.

how will the skills learnt during me- vid help you in your music video production?

the skills i learnt in the me- vid production will help me in the music video production because i know to write a script and i also know to organise people and how to edit using final cut express and live type.

edit workshop evaluation

The Encounter Final Draft

how did you use the 180 degree rule, the rule of thirds and match on action?

When I was filming I used the 180 degree rule by keeping me on the left of the camera and Sami on the right of the camera. I used the rule of thirds by keeping the actors eyes a 3rd away down the screen. I used match on action by showing me opening the door.

what challenges did you face during production what would you change if you were to film again?

The challenges i faced during my production where speaking clearly and i also kept looking at the camera, if i was to film this again i would change the location and i will not look at the camera  i will look at the person i am talking to.

what challenges did you face during post - production what would you change if you were to edit  again?

i had trouble putting my music in the right place and i had trouble upload my video on to YouTube. If i was to edit again i would take my time to get used to editing on imovie. I would also ask Chris to give me some extra pointers because he showed me how to trim my movie but i should have asked more questions so i could understand how to add in effects. Looking back at my video i did not add in the effects that i wanted to because i wasn't quite sure how to use to fade out effects.

what are the  overall strengths of your work? why?
My overall strength was planning and creativity of my scenario which was of an 18 year old boy passing his driving test on his second attempt and telling his friend that he had failed as a joke. My planning was good as i knew what i wanted to film and this is why i was able to get finished on time.

what are the overall weaknesses of your work? why?
My overall weakness was having to work with Sami because he got distracted to easy which made me frustrated as things were not getting done.

My overall improvement i would make to my work would be to change my partner because i would prefer to work with someone who is dedicated to the work.

explanantion of my idea

My idea for my encounter piece of work is about me (Leo) taking his driving test and pretending to a friend (Sami) that I have failed. It is set in the sixth form block at school and focuses on the reaction of Sami when I pretend to have failed and when he realises that I have really passed.  We decided to use this scenario because we will both soon be taking our driving tests. The encounter ends with me and Sami high fiving each other in a two shot which will show that we both found the situation funny and that we are good friends.

The camera techniques I have to use are the 180 degree rule, match on action and the rule of thirds. I will start with an establishing shot of the sixth form sign to show where the encounter is set. The editing technique I will use to get from shot to shot is cuts because this will make it fast paced. I was trying to show  the understanding of two friends talking and one of the friends tell the other friend that he had failed his driving test as a joke so one of the friends can get shocked. I will use shot reverse shot to help me show this I will start by showing Sami first, then cutting to me and then I will go back to Sami. My match on action shot will be me walking towards the sixth form room door, a close up of my hand on the door handle and then the camera will be moved inside the room and there will be a shot of me entering the room through the door on the other side walking towards Sami.  I will use the rule of thirds which is when everyone’s eyes are a third of the way down the screen throughout the film which will mean everyone will be framed properly.  I will also use a range of shots types including close ups, mid shots and long shots to make sure my film is varied and interesting. I will use a fade in at the beginning and a fade out at the end.

planning

In media this week I learnt, about camera angles, which match on action, 180 degrees short reveres shot and rules of 3.

I also learnt that you can not draw stick men on your storyboard. I also learnt  that you have to put more details on the your story board. I also learnt about pan which is when you move left to right. I  learnt about cross fade and establishing shot. I also learnt about high angle and low angle shot, when you have a high angle shot it makes the character look lower status . I also learnt about extreme close up and mid shot. In addition I learnt about tilt which is when you move up and done with the action.
