My idea for my encounter piece of work is about me (Leo)
taking his driving test and pretending to a friend (Sami) that I have failed. It
is set in the sixth form block at school and focuses on the reaction of Sami
when I pretend to have failed and when he realises that I have really
passed. We decided to use this scenario
because we will both soon be taking our driving tests. The encounter ends with
me and Sami high fiving each other in a two shot which will show that we both
found the situation funny and that we are good friends.
The camera techniques I have to use are the 180 degree rule,
match on action and the rule of thirds. I will start with an establishing shot
of the sixth form sign to show where the encounter is set. The editing
technique I will use to get from shot to shot is cuts because this will make it
fast paced. I was trying to show the
understanding of two friends talking and one of the friends tell the other
friend that he had failed his driving test as a joke so one of the friends can
get shocked. I will use shot reverse shot to help me show this I will start by showing
Sami first, then cutting to me and then I will go back to Sami. My match on
action shot will be me walking towards the sixth form room door, a close up of
my hand on the door handle and then the camera will be moved inside the room
and there will be a shot of me entering the room through the door on the other
side walking towards Sami. I will use
the rule of thirds which is when everyone’s eyes are a third of the way down
the screen throughout the film which will mean everyone will be framed
properly. I will also use a range of
shots types including close ups, mid shots and long shots to make sure my film
is varied and interesting. I will use a fade in at the beginning and a fade out
at the end.
